·Plot: “The Russians!” Is an adaptation of Chekhov’s theater texts “Platonov” (1881) and “Ivanov” (1887). In ¨The Russians!¨ Tom Lanoye adapts these two plays in one, where the two main characters meet. The position of Russia between Europe and Asia, creates tension since a very long time. And the setting aims to represent an isolated ¨nomansland¨: between the public and the private space. A big architectural island-terrace that gets dirty by the unconscious misuse of his residents. The big window is a big cement sculpture that rotates slowly during the whole performance. This objects represents the instability of the whole situation, and separates the two worlds in conflictabout themselves, many people have the feeling of belonging nowhere.
